Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club

Introduction

Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club saw the need for up-market motel accommodation within the CBD of Armidale, offering the amenities that the Club can provide, plus views over the scenic creeklands to the north. The site was challenging in that it is designated flood-prone, relatively narrow and bounded by the Ex-Services Memorial Club and a multi-plex cinema complex. New England Design Group was able to respond to these challenges and deliver a design that:

• Satisfied Council concerns for construction in the flood plain,
• Achieved views from every room to the creeklands through the use of innovative window seating,
• Was able to exclude high levels of ambient noise from the busy CBD environment,
• Offers 32 generous rooms over two levels,
• Included an all-weather link between the Motel and the Ex-Services Club, and
• Was within the Club’s construction budget.
